To start our unit on Aboriginal people in Canada, students brought in items to represent different aspects of Aboriginal culture from various groups (Northwest Coast, Arctic, Plains, Plateau, etc.).

Both grades are working on area and perimeter in math.

ELA: Students have continued to practise their presentation and memorization skills this week. They worked in pairs, small groups and 1:1 with me (Mrs. Schnarr). Over the past few weeks students have had opportunities to speak in an impromptu setting and with planned scripts of increasing length and complexity. They are finding it beneficial to use peer evaluation to help them make revisions.

This week the students are excited to begin a culminating activity, where they give a talk to a group on a topic of their choice. The talk will be memorized. All of the details and expectations were sent home on Thursday. Check it out! Great tips are included.

The grade 5's will deliver their talks on Friday Feb. 13 and Tuesday Feb. 17.
(They leave for Camp Arnes on Wed. Feb. 18th.)
The Gr. 4's will deliver their talks on Wed. Feb. 18.

Each student signed up for a presentation date and has written it in the information they took home. Parents please sign it and return on Monday.
We look forward to hearing lots of interesting presentations!
Have a great weekend.
