The oral presentations went very well. Students tried to convince us to read their amazing books! They have grown so much and are far more confident in speaking in front of a group. Their artistic abilities were on display as well, as students made "Faces in the Style of Picasso." Check them out when you are in next time. They are rather wild.

We have just begun a new set of Daily 5 activities and are studying Natural Forces/Weather. Students are practising reading comprehension skills such as visualizing, making connections and inferring information. This week we examined the concepts of "Compare and Contrast", as a way of further picturing the text in our minds.

Finishing off book response presentations

Today we made 'no bake cookies' to finish off our fraction unit.  Both grades also had a test this week.
We looked at how to half or double a recipe...and enjoyed the results!

The earth's tilt and revolution around the sun give us different seasons, and affect the climate in different parts of the world.  As we start our weather section of the 'nature unit', we also looked at properties of air (takes up space, has mass) and will look at cold and warm air fronts next week.
