We are looking forward to student led conferences next week; students are preparing their best work to share with you!

ELA: We are beginning to write a story in the pattern of Scaredy Squirrel this week.  We are striving to be creative and imaginative.  Ask your child what the pattern is and what their ideas are.
Spelling words this week are words that will be used in the writing of these stories.  Have your child write them in a sentence as practise this week.
Note:  We will have our spelling quiz on Thursday
as Friday is a PD day.

Math: This week the grade 4's will work on adding 4-digit numbers and beginning to review strategies for subtraction.  We have spent a lot of time working on different strategies to add 3-digit numbers to ensure that students are understanding the place value of each digit, rather than simply "stacking" the numbers and "carrying".  Today we walked through the process of stacking numbers to add and learning why it works.  Grade 3's are working on skip counting by 5, 10, and 25 and applying these skills to count money.

Science: This week we will be talking about different forms of energy, which will wrap up our light unit and introduce our investigations on sound.

Social studies: After finishing up notes on the geographical regions of Canada, students are creating mini-posters that use symbols to represent aspects of the region that they have learned about.

*Reminder: If you have not already signed up for a Student Led Conference, please do so as soon as possible.
