ELA: We will be finishing our Scaredy stories in the next few days and beginning to learn about INFERRING. Our spelling list has many Christmas words that we will use in our Literacy activites next week. The kids are excited to be learning these words and will use them in the Christmas literacy activities to come!! 4 weeks to go!!

Math: The grade 4's are finishing up their unit on adding and subtraction this week and will have a test early next week.  We will be working on finding key words in story problems so we know whether to add or subtract to find the answer.  This week the grade 3's are focusing on estimating and representing numbers up to 1000.  They will also have a test at the end of this week or early next week.

Social Studies: Last week we discussed the responsibilities of the federal, provincial/territorial and municipal governments in Canada.  We have a guest speaker coming from the Legislature on December 14 to engage us in role-playing and activities to learn more about how the government works in Canada.

Technology Lab: We spent several classes in the computer lab learning about researching online using key words, and students looked up the names of some of our government leaders.  We are also working on saving documents and practising simple formatting skills.  Over the next few weeks students will have opportunity to practice typing.  The site is listed on the website and students are encouraged to try it at home as well!

On December 10th we will be visiting Vista Park Lodge to spend some time with the senior's.  We will bring some crafts and play games or do puzzles with the residents.  We have been talking about service as our chapel theme this year, and this is a wonderful way to serve the seniors in our area.  (Permission form will be sent home tomorrow.)

VOLUNTEERS: We are excited to have lots of activities going on in the next month! If you are able and willing to come in to volunteer during the school day to help with some prep work, please let us know and we would be grateful for your help!  There are also a few tasks that could be done at home and brought to school if that is more convenient.  Thank you!
