ELA: The spelling words for this week are on the theme of inferring.  We have written the words in sentences today.  Have your child define each word and complete the spelling page tonight.  We are continuing to explore inferring in literacy by examining texts and writing our own inferences.

Math:  The grade 4's are looking at division in arrays and the relation to multiplication.  We will be practising how to choose whether to use multiplication or division in word problems.  The grade 3's will be working on subtraction strategies this week and learning how to determine whether to add or subtract in a word problem.

Social Studies: We are wrapping up our discussions and activities on our needs (explained more in last update).  The last task I asked the students to do was to think about their primary need and come up with idea of how we could meet that need better in school.  I'm looking forward to reading all their ideas and modifying/adding activities to our routines that students have suggested!  This week we are finishing our learning about Canada by exploring citizenship.
