ELA: There will no new spelling words this week.  We will hopefully be using the correct spelling of the words we learned for the last 2 weeks in our story writing.
"And Then it Happened" stories started today with a graphic organizer.  Students are generating ideas and recording them in point form.  Ask your child what ideas they are hatching!!  We will be following the writing process using our ideas to a draft copy, editing and revising and creating a finished copy. Each student will use a checklist to edit and revise as well as a rubric to evaluate themselves and their completed story.

Math:  Grade 4's completed several mini competitions in the Measurement Olympics this morning.  We will continue expanding our understanding of area this week and begin focusing on telling time.  The grade 3's have been measuring many things in the classroom as we talk about length and perimeter in centimetres and metres.  Grade 3's will also begin activities with measuring time this week.

Science: It is great to see students' creativity as they've put together their instruments! They are due tomorrow and students will have an opportunity to share their instrument with the class and play a simple song (with 3 pitches).

Social Studies: Today we learned about different types of Inuksuks that serve specific purposes and students have started creating an Inuksuk painting to be displayed in the hallway.  We will continue this week talking about life in the North in preparation for our field trip next Monday.
