The grade 4's are continuing to work on dividing large numbers - using mental math strategies, familiar division facts, and base ten blocks.

 ...and have been working through various probability experiments. 

Next week, the grade 5's will be working on creating their own probability experiment to put up as an interactive bulletin board display.

In social studies, we are looking at different things that shaped what Canada is like today including: pop culture, inventions, prime ministers, and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

We wrapped up the final ideas in the "Case for a Creator" book, and summarized the main points (below).

We have just begun looking at a similar text, called "Case for Christ".  This book talks about the different ideas that people have about Jesus, and what seems reasonable to believe.  

Students looked up verses to see what Jesus said about himself.

Then, we looked at the possibility that Jesus could be lying.  We concluded that most people might lie to make themselves look cool or be well liked, but most wouldn't die for a lie.  Then we looked at the possibility that Jesus wasn't thinking straight and could be mentally ill.  However, he didn't quite fit the bill for that either (see below).
