ELA: This week we have started another round of literacy activites.  These revolve around the theme of animals.  We are continuing to write an animal adventure story and researching various facts about them.  We will be making a paper mache animal starting on Thursday.  Please make sure your child has brought the necessary items: newspaper, glue, a plastic bottle for the body, and extra creative items like feathers if they are doing a bird etc.,  maybe some cardboard for ears and tails. I have pipe cleaners and googley eyes for them.
The paper mache animal will be used as a model when they orally present the information about their  animal to the class. Enjoy sharing with them their exciting ideas!!

Math: The grade 3's have had a great start to their multiplication unit!  They are eager to improve their accuracy with the facts.  We will be working on applying this knowledge to word problems, and relating multiplication to division later on this week.  The grade 4's are starting to look at decimal numbers (tenths and hundredths), and will learn how they are related to fractions and money.

Science: This week we will be investigating the plants and animals that live in various habitats.  We will also be looking at plant and animal roles in a habitat, and create food chains and webs.
