Welcome back!  Hope you enjoyed Spring Break and the Easter celebration!

ELA: Today, we wrote about our time off during Spring Break.  Wow!  Lots of exciting places visited and events happening!  Some students will be bringing it home to finish.  They were asked to highlight three areas of their break and write a detailed paragraph about each.

We also have new spelling words.  The theme is ANIMALS and the students will be quizzed next week Friday on those words. (April 12th)

We are excited to be integrating our theme of Animals in Literacy/Art and Science.  In ELA we will be writing an adventure story, researching animal traits and making various representatives and models.

Math: The grade 3's just finished their fractions unit and will be starting to look at multiplication and division.  We will start by expressing multiplication with counters, words, pictures, and equations.  They are expected to develop recall of facts up to 5 x 5 and the related division facts by the end of the year. The grade 4's are working on applying their knowledge of fractions to solve problems, finding the fraction of a set (ex: 3/4 of 12) and comparing fractions.

Social Studies and Science: We are wrapping up our unit of the Arctic and will be switching to a science unit on habitats this week.  We will start with a class game to help students remember what a habitat provides for the animals/plants living there.  Students will also predict and research physical and behavioural adaptations, and watch several video clips that show how animals survive in their habitat.
