ELA: We are beginning a new set of spelling words that relate to a new theme in Social Studies.  It will be about our province and it's history.  We are working on an art project as well as continuing work with graphic organizers and writing fluency.

Math: The grade 3's are starting a unit on collecting and organizing information.  They will be using tally charts, lists and graphs.  The grade 4's have been doing lots of multiplication practiceusing different strategies (1 digit by 2 or 3 digit numbers).  Tomorrow will start looking at division by estimating quotients. Students will also use manipulatives to start dividing numbers with remainders.

Science: Today we completed our rock unit by making sugar crystal 'rock candy'!  Some students are building their crystals on a string while others are using pipe cleaners.  Students will record their observations over the next few days as the crystals grow, and we'll see which methods allows for faster crystal growth.

Social Studies: Tomorrow we will be starting our last social studies unit that will focus on Manitoba.  We will start with a scavenger hunt to locate geographic features on a map, and use google maps to find various aboriginal and francophone communities in Manitoba. 

*Please ensure that your child has a water bottle at school. As the weather warms up students are drinking more.  Having an available water bottle minimizes disruptions throughout the day.
