ELA:  This week our students are thinking about thankfulness and making something to "beautify" your homes.  We are continuing with our Daily 5 and strengthening our stamina.  Thank you to all the families who sent snacks last Friday for our literacy party.  The students enjoyed watching Treasure Island!  We are about half way through reading it as a whole class.  I am very proud of how disciplined the class has been in reading each night!  Please encourage your child  to keep up the awesome work!

Math: The grade 5's are starting a new unit that includes representing and describing numbers up to a million and estimating.  The grade 4's are learning to organize information in several different types of Venn diagrams, as well as Carroll diagrams. 

Social Studies:  This week we are organizing our class according to the different leadership styles of various First Peoples communities.  Each day we have chosen different chiefs or elders that have varying responsibilities to their community. For example, the 'salmon chief' made sure there was enough food for the class yesterday, and the Inaki (elder) took the advise of several band chiefs today to organize the afternoon activities.  Students will also be using atlases to map the physical regions in Canada and the traditional territories of First Peoples communities.
